DomainKeys Identified Mail
Find out more on DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) and exactly how this feature may help your business.
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an email validation system used to prove that an email message has been sent by an authenticated individual or email server. A digital signature is attached to the header of the email by using a private key. When the email message is received, a public key that’s available in the global Domain Name System is used to verify who actually sent it and if its content has been edited in some way. The prime purpose of DomainKeys Identified Mail is to prevent the widespread scam and spam email messages, as it makes it impossible to forge an email address. If an email message is sent from an email address claiming to belong to your bank, for instance, but the signature doesn’t correspond, you will either not receive the email at all, or you will receive it with a warning notification that most probably it is not an authentic one. It depends on mail service providers what exactly will happen with an email which fails to pass the signature test. DKIM will also supply you with an additional protection layer when you communicate with your business associates, for example, as they can see that all the e-mail messages that you send are genuine and haven’t been meddled with on their way.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Cloud Website Hosting
If you obtain any of the
Linux cloud website hosting that we offer, the DomainKeys Identified Mail functionality will be enabled as standard for any domain that you register under your shared website hosting account, so you won’t need to set up any records or to enable anything manually. When a domain is added in the Hosted Domains section of our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel using our NS and MX records (so that the email messages related to this domain will be handled by our cloud web hosting platform), a private key will be created momentarily on our email servers and a TXT record with a public key will be sent to the global DNS database. All email addresses created with this domain name will be protected by DomainKeys Identified Mail, so if you send emails such as regular newsletters, they will reach their target audience and the recipients will know that the messages are legitimate, as the DomainKeys Identified Mail functionality makes it impossible for unauthorized persons to forge your e-mail addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The DomainKeys Identified Mail protection service is offered by default with any domain name that’s added to a
semi-dedicated server account with our company. It should also use our name servers, so that its DNS records are handled by our platform. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT resource record to be set up, which is in fact the public key that confirms if a given email is genuine or not. This record is set up as soon as a new domain name is registered in a semi-dedicated server account through the Hepsia Control Panel and in the meantime, a private key is created on our email servers. If you make use of our web and email hosting services, your email messages will always reach their target audience and you will not need to worry about unauthorized parties forging your addresses for scamming or spamming purposes, which is something quite important in case you use emails to communicate with your business allies.
